CERAMICS

Making clay forms on the potter's wheel is a way of connecting to Earth's intelligence and surrendering to a place of calm. I believe that in slowing down, the body and mind can

find their own intelligence and move toward a path of health and healing. Spinning clay is a way

of surrendering to Earth's intelligence.

Continued existential and philosophical reflections guide this work.

ZEN OF CERAMICS

Zen of Ceramics • Throwing and Trimming–TWO forms become ONE

ZEN of throwing expresses our relationship to the Earth. I see it as a reciprocal healing; heart to hand meditation that aspires towards peace, balance and repair. —MO

Zen of Ceramic Pottery: How to Throw a Cylinder (great for beginners or just practicing )

This is a preliminary video that demonstrates how to throw a 4 inch cylinder on the potter's wheel using one pound of clay.  It also expresses the philosophical notion that throwing is about our relationship to the Earth. It is a heart-to-hand process that connects us to the beginning of time. It is a meditation on balance, repose and surrender.
