Wood Carving & Clay Sculptures

 The subtractive method of carving reveals the inherent personality and qualities of wood. There is much to be discovered by peeling away the layers of bark and chiseling into the unpredictable textures of the grain. I am always surprised by what emerges. This process offers profound insights into both self and material.  Using a variety of materials, such as clay, wood and metal— my sculptures strive to capture the vulnerable and inquisitive anthropomorphic and zoomorphic qualities of animals and humans.
